Prints please

Iconic finnish designer Vuokko Nurmesniemi's rare vintage print from the late 50's for Finnish textile company Marimekko. Finnish children grew up with this in their bedrooms. It reminds me of the Vitra ones by Alex Girrard (see picture below) who took influence from Charles and Ray Eames who Vuokko also used to hang out with in the 60's and 70's, although she designed this pre-Vitra.

Established & Sons

Established & Sons collection was the highlight of Salone. Their stand at La Pelota apparently had to temporarily close due to a fire but the preview was fire free.

Quilt chair by the Bouroullec brothers
The Bouroullec brothers Ronan and Erwan hail from France and have worked with Issey Miyake, Vitra and Magis. Their hexagonal-esque chair is upholstered in hi-tech stretch fabric over a fibreglass shell. Sofa design is usually the dullest thing about Salone so this is a seriously cool lounging option.

Sylvian Willenz - Landmarks
Belgian desiger Sylvain Willenz excels in using natural rubber and his latest collection of lights called Landmarks is inspired by road signage. Thanks to Willenz we can indulge in motorway and road nostalgia from the comfort of our home and not the car.
