Site for sore eyes

Corbusier's beach hut Le Cabanon at Cap-Martin has been recreated by Italian Piero Lissoni and is on display from the 5th March - 28th April at London's RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). We were slightly baffled by the lack of a bathroom - where did Corbusier wash? This is the only space that Corbusier designed for himself in his lifetime. Architect Lissoni said at the opening this morning "We have tried to replicate his house without any interpretation in the most pure way." Built with the support of Italian furniture giant Cassina (the only manufacturers of genuine Corbusier)whose CEO revealed they are opening a show-room in London later this year.

The entrance opens out into a dining area with storage space attached to the wall.

The bed also can act as a (very hard) armchair during the day with storage space underneath. Note the lovely coloured ceiling tiles that add an atmosphere to an otherwise wooden space.
